How does a round robin work? I asked this before, but didn't get an answer.

Do you sew a block and then mail it to someone else and they add to it or what?

The number one person, makes a center design of a certain pre determined size... then it goes on to 2 who makes aborder maybe a specified size then on to 3---4 --5 each round can have rules or not..all determined at the start It then goes back to the one who made the center. It may be a very simple process or get complicated according to what each round requires...I am not in one but everyone seems very happy :D I hope that answered a few of your questions. Aren't the round one centers beautiful :D

There are different ways to do a RR. The number in the group is determined by the number of borders or rows or size of quilt. Ours on this board are done through mail. My local quilt shop has a group where they meet at the shop and exchange their boxes. The idea is that you don't see it while it is "gone" and it is revealed to you at the end.

One way is to make a center and group members add borders around it. Each round can be assigned a size. That is how the International RR is this time. http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/10421.page

I think something like that happened with some sort of swap Shadow Dancer did, and her chair ended up remaking everything. :shock: You could check with her, but I think she said it wasn't part of this board.

Here are some photos of different ones that I cam across http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/...63315856srtPZQ. There is less math and less matching, because the owner of the quilt makes the first border and that sets the size for every row after that. For instance a full size would start at 88" long by 14.5" 6 people make rows and you end up with a 88"X87" quilt.

Small quilts would work a bit different. Let's say we're wanting 36" wallhanging. The first makes a quilt of 36" X 6" and 6 members add to make much less work. :)
