Can you use polyfill in Totes instead of the iron on pellon?
Thanks :) |
I've made lots of bags and totes and have never used iron-on pellon (just didn't have any). I've used whatever batting pieces I had left over from other projects, usually Warm & White. They finish up a little softer, but they hold up well with use. (My DGD uses hers for her laptop).

So you use cotton batting and not polyfill?? I used some batting in a small table topper and it was heacy hahaha... Oh well, guess I will learn someday what goes where. I do have some cotton batting I could use for the tote, never thought about it... Thanks for advice. :)

I used the iron on pellon a few times but most recently used cotton batting. Came out great.

when you add pockets on the inside, what do you use for the pocket? Another piece of material sandwich between? Thanks :)

I just make my pockets out of the fabric doubled. I've never put anything in between but that's an idea.
Oh the batting I use, W & W, is 80/20 I think. I wash my purses and don't want that shrinkydink look to them. (I also use this in all my quilts; never used 100% cotton--I know that's a mortal sin to some here LOL). Do you use anything in the straps or handles? I haven't cause they're like triple fabric and I haven't had any stretching or ripping but I'd like to know what you all do. |
I've only made one bag last summer at my sister in laws. She had me use the iron on pellon for straps and pockets..
