I was just wondering.....when making quilts for your bedroom do you try to match curtains or not. I have a master bedroom that requires many curtains, bay window and large front window. I have quilts that I want to rotate seasonally but not all look good with curtains. I'm in the process of sewing new window treatments and since it's such a large part of the room I don't want something boring that would match all quilts. Sheers are not an option since we live in a cold climate and have to keep out the cold. I live in an old house that's a little more formal but don't want silks or satins.

If you go neutral on the curtains, then anything will look great on the bed.

A friend of mine had a large bay window( it required 4 sets) She bought beige/taupe curtains, then she made coordinating fabric from her quilts and comforters as tiebacks and would stitch/tack matching/coordinating bands on the bottom of the curtains. Her room always looked so nice. I don't know why I don't think of this when I get steamed when trying to match up curtains for mine. :lol:
Added** On the panel at the bottom of the curtain-She hemmed the bottom and the two sides. Then she just had to sew one seam across the top, then folded it down and tacked the sides and bottom.Hope that makes sense. :lol:

Clever idea!

I've been contemplating the same issue. Was thinking of going with sheers and topping with valances to match the quilts. I think I like the tieback idea better. Maybe use insulated shades to hold out the cold. Old house here too!
