Custom-made dies?

Has anyone ever had your own die (or dies) made for fabric cutting systems, such as Sizzix or Accuquilt? I'm wondering how difficult and expensive a process it is, and how well it worked for anyone who has tried it.

In the Accuquilt big catalog there is info about the custom dies. I don't have the catalog here to post the info.

Oh I'm sorry, I was wondering about third-party makers. I know Accuquilt makes custom dies, but it seems they will only make them for the Studio, and I have the Baby.

In the industry they are called 'steel rule dies' and are the same as the ones that your printer uses when they need a fancy cut on a paper item. Unfortunately, the industry standard is around 1", which is what the Studio uses. The steel blades are all manufactured to this thickness. The die fabricator buys them, bends them to the appropriate shape and imbeds them into the wood backing. I've had dozens of dies made by various companies, but they all are the thicker variety. Sizzix dies are also a different thickness than what the Go and Go Baby can handle. I've never investigated, but if Accucut doesn't make them, I think you are out of luck, but you could try google-ing 'steel rule dies'. Make sure that you tell them the thickness you are looking for.
