OK, I'm making my dd this big king-size quilt. And there are about a gazillion pieces. Do you cut all the blocks and then sew or take a break and sew a little and cut more blocks????

I'm really tired of cutting blocks and am not half way finished....

You may want to sew a couple together to make sure you really like the fabric selection or the blocks for the quilt. It would be a bummer to have it all cut up to figure out you don't like the design!

If you're tired of cutting, then sew for a while. Otherwise you might start making cutting mistakes cuz you're in a hurry to stop. :)

Good idea to do this.

If you do take a break, you might want to leave a note to yourself about which ruler you were using (if you have more than one brand going) and exactly where you were putting it on the fabric. I think I've changed over the years.

You might also want to leave a note to yourself about which presser foot you were using. I have a Pfaff that I thought I had set to an accurate 1/4 inch and then I bought a 1/4 inch foot.

The reasons for these statements: I started something a long time ago - put it aside - then bought a new presser foot, bought a couple of new rulers, etc. etc.

The bottom line is: Even though I think I cut and sew very accurately, the last block I made is NOT javascript:emoticon(''); the same size as the other blocks I made. It's a good 1/2 inch different (smaller, if I remember correctly) and I'm not exactly sure where the differences occurred.

I make a dummy block 1st, then cut all my fabric and then sew it. For me, it goes faster that way.
