Cutting Edge Rulers

I saw a woman on tv using a ruler that has an edge that sharpens her rotary blade as she cuts. Has anyone used this ruler, or knows anything about them? Blades are so expensive that I keep using them much longer than I should.

A friend and I bought one each on a shop hop a few years ago. I'm not sure now why we didn't like them, but we didn't. Mine sits unused except when I need a longer straight edge.

I won a set of these rulers on a blog give away. I haven't used them much because I use precuts or my Go dies. They are nice rulers.

I did quite a bit of "research" with them for the manufacturer after I had so many problems with them. Mine were NOT accurate (first 1/4" including metal strip way off!) Here is the post: http://www.quiltingboard.com/search....archid=8351033 IMHO, not worth the money. :(

I remember reading negative reviews when they first came out. So I bought the True Cut ruler and didn't like it either.

I have a small one and use every edge BUT the sharpening edge. Running my rotary cutter across that sharpening edge feels like fingernails down a chalkboard! Yeech!!

I bought the Sullivans The Cutting Edge 6 1/2" square ruler because it was on sale and I wanted to try it. The ruler is fine and I like the red line markings on it but I'm not sure that the metal edge really sharpens my ruler. I can hear the rotary blade scraping against the metal strip but I really haven't noticed that my blade is a lot sharper. If you needed a new ruler, it works but I don't think I'd buy it with the goal of sharpening my blade.
