I have quite a collection of old worn out jeans that people have been giving me because they know I want to make a rag quilt out of bluejeans and flannel.

First question: is there a certain way to cut the jeans to make sure you get the most out of them? Or a way to make it easy?

Second question: does anyone want the tops to make bags, etc?

Third question: I'm going to use flannel for the back. Since the jeans have all had their share of washing, I should probably wash the flannel, too, right?

I've made my fair share of flannel rag quilts, never one out of old jeans.

I would cut right up next to the seams. Others take the seams apart. It is a personal preference :D:D:D

I would wash and dry the flannel twice, since the jeans aren't going to shrink at all :D:D:D

to take the seams off it is easier to turn them inside out most of the time, so the outside of the pant leg lays flat. the inseam is usually a double seam and won't lay flat,

What size are you cutting them?

Hi,

The pockets looks cute on the blocks also! lots of ideas for blue jeans, I posted a link under link section for some blue jean ideas for all of us to enjoy.

You can also make blue jean potholders! The sky is the limit. Enjoy!

Also take the top part of the blue jeans and make blue jean purses. I also took the pockets and sewed 3 together and made a strap for it and my niece loved it. The strap was the edges of the jeans.
