Cutting machine(does it really work?)
one of my favorite qs has their cutting machine on sale. The lower end one.It cuts 3/8 to 2 3/4 strips. I'am very limited in my hands,I have been looking at one of these for awhile.Could I please have your pros and cons on this cutting machine. I have also been wondering about the Bias maker? Stitches to all Weepingwillow58

It's very hard to get perfectly accurate cut strips. I use it to cut strips for crocheting fabric, making rag rugs and to wrap clothes line for the fabric bowls as the strips don't have to be accurate. I have the bias maker and I use it a lot. It works great but it took practice for me to get perfect binding. I use the bigger tip to make double fold French binding for quilts. I'll take one day and make a box full of ready made binding of all colors and prints.

IF you are talking about the GO machines, I have the Baby GO and I love it for cutting out applique shapes. If your problem with your hands is strength you might not be able to operate it because it takes a surge of strength to get it started. For stripping I tear my fabrics. It is the only way for me to get anything of length straight.

I think you're talking about the Simplicity strip cutter. It is not very good, not very accurate, and probably not appropriate for most quilters.

I bought a strip cutter and used it on a yard of fabric and promptly returned it to Joannes! I was so dissapointed. I use my June Taylor ruler instead.

Thank you ,for all responses.Yes I was refering to the Simplicity. I have a small business,I do long arm quilting, but my customers & my artis is binding & hand quilting. So yes I need straight strips.BellaBoo what great advice on the bias maker, &mpspeedy, I just resently started tearing my material. A fellow quilter told me about doing it that way in the DR.office. I keep my hands busy so they stay nimble. Stitches to all.weepingwillow58

I bought the GO baby from Amazon for under $80. and the 2.5 strip cutter for $36. I can layer 5-6 pieces of fabric and it cut three across times layers. So 5 layers will give me 15 perfect WOF strips with little effort. My 5 yo grandson can turn it easily. I have three fingers on my right hand that are numb, but this I can operate.
