Does anyone use a cutting machine. I was told that the Cricut will cut fabric that has stabilizer on the back.

Someone cuts fabric that way. Blocks for rag quilts were being sold.
|
The Accuquilt Go! and Studio will also do that. The Accuquilt is used more for quilting because it is much faster for cutting multiple shapes.
|
Does it cut lots of shapes of just squares, rectangles, triangles and circles?
|
Yes, the Cricut will cut fabric, but you have to put heat and bond on the back of it. It's more for applique, whereas the Accuquilt GO! or Studio will cut fabric with or without anything on the back.

Has the Accuquilt Go Baby come out yet? It's due sometime in Nov. I was wondering how well it works. It's more in my price range that the regular one. I wish you could check out the dies like the library. My LQS doesn't rent out time to cut your own but will cut out for you.

I have the Go and ordered the Go Baby. All of the Go narrow dies will fit the Go Baby. I use my Go to cut all my quilt blocks. The Go Baby will be for my DGD to use and have for her own.

http://www.accuquilt.com/Applique-C445.aspx Note that there are 2 pages of dies at that link. Also, the company keeps coming out with new applique dies. |

You do have to put a stablizer such as freezer paper, heat n bond, or similar for your fabric to be used in applicate. You can trace your design on fabric but make sure to put the freezer paper/heat n bond, what ever behind it and than cut it. You also can use the Cricut Imagine which is both a printer and die-cutter this way you don't have to use a rotary cutter or scissors such as is used in Inklingo which uses an ink jet printer and than a rotary cutter or scissors. |
