I have one and like it for strip cutting. Works great when you have lots to cut.

Mine is 18 inches wide and if I am cutting 2 1/2 inch strips, I can cut 7 stacks without moving the ruler or needing to trim up the edges. I highly recommend this. I use it almost all the time.

I don't mind the cutting part. It's kinda relaxing to me, knowing I have another project in the works.

I've made A LOT of quilts and never used a rotary cutter even though there is one in my junk. I have very good sharp scissors and can cut 3 to 5 layers. The accuracy is 97%. I find it's quicker and easier. Good luck and God bless.

Glad to see this post, I have the same problems.

~Bj~ Hubby cut ?1"? pvc pipe in a length to bring the table just above (maybe 2") my waistline. He put caps on so it doesn't cut the carpet and the table slides easily when I want it to. Then, I took my extra ironing board and reconstructed it underneath to bring it up to the same height. It took some rigging but I won. I was down to 15 minute increments before the adjustment, killed my back and neck!!!! The booties The bootie caps |
I don't know where the smily face came from but it's cute there. I went back into edit and it isn't in my update. Surprise, but cute.

I enjoy the cutting process. I often cutting out several projects in a day. Yesterday I cut out 2 T shirts and a night gown for Mother. Capri set for Olivia and a bathrobe for me. Then I started on a new quilt with 440 6 1/2" blocks 440 1 1/2" x 8 1/2" strips for a scrappy quilt.

I am learning too, and I struggle with cutting a stright line. Penny

I enjoy every aspect of the quilting process - but I don't do all cutting, followed by all sewing etc. I cut some, sew some, cut some, join a row or two....you get the idea.
The most enjoyable part (for me) however is hand-stitching the binding down at the end. By the time I get to that part I've had a fairly long, love-hate relationship with the project, and in this final "act" I realize just how much I love it after all :D |
She must be making charm squares, they are 5-inch.
