You are correct, it appears the OP took a picture of one block and rotated it to show how 4 of them together would look. However, I believe Maniac was talking about the seams inside the block itself not matching up.

If you can heavily starch the fabric before cutting, that would help a *lot* with matching as it would stabilize the bias you get from cutting the blocks diagonally. Second best would be giving the blocks several spray starchings, as heavily as possible, before cutting the diagonals.

I'm just finishing a queen size quilt with the d4p diagonal and will post pictures soon. It was fun even though not perfect by far. Hope you enjoy yours as it looks beautiful. Love your fabric choice.
