I am in the process of making 4 patches for a disappearing 4 patch. Before cutting my block measures 8.5". What size should it be when it has been cut and reassembled?
Thank you.

You loose 1/2" for each cut + new seam. So if you make 2 vertical and 2 horizontal cuts, you would loose 1 inch each way. the reassembled raw block would be 7.5", and 7" when sewed into the quilt.

Thank you so much,PaperPrincess.
I tried one block and when it was cut and sewn back together, it came out to 7 and 3 eights". I will trim them to the size of the smallest block once all are done.
