There is a tutorial on this site dealing with directional designs, like trees or hearts. If you are using strips it doesn't matter that they go different directions. Use the search to find the tutorial.

i just started a disappearing 9 patch today - i only made one test block. i am using moda 'bliss' charm packs and white squares....luckily no directional prints
