Welcome to our world. I would recommend sewing all of your blocks together into a top and then layering it with your batting/wadding and a solid back. Especially if you are going to handquilt as there will be fewer seams for you to quilt through. It does make for a big project. Once you have completed one it will not feel so overwhelming.

Here's the link to an excellent tutorial by Leah Day on the QAYG method that I prefer. I have made a number of queen- and king-sized quilts using this method on my regular sewing machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7_lwOfZWM8

I put quilt as you go in my browser's search window and got hundreds of links. Youtube is full of quilt as you go videos. that may be better for you then reading about it.

No question is too daft!! Better to ask sooner, rather than later.

quilt as you go quilts are a great way to get them quilted when you don't want to deal with all the bulk, hassle of a large quilt- there are lots of tutorials showing the technques- you can quilt each block any way you want to then join the blocks with narrow sashing strips...Elenor Burns has a pattern out called the 6-hour quilt that shows another quilt as you go technique...go for it, have fun with it & show us pictures---we love looking :)
