Dangerous seam ripper ?
I broke my seam ripper last week and saw an ad on Facebook for a brass seam ripper. I already had a matching stiletto that I love and have used all the time so I ordered one from Nifty Notions. It came yesterday and on the outside of the package was a sticker that said 'this product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects and other reproductive harm' Now I don't know what to do, is it really possible that a brass seam ripper can be that dangerous and what about my stiletto. Any advice ?

My husband said its very trace (very minute) elements of lead - I don't think it will hurt you but you perhaps you shouldn't stick it in your mouth.

Yes and wash your hands after handling it.

Don't use it in California......;-)

An interesting explanation:
http://www.chemheritage.org/discover...ng-labels.aspx I would use the seam ripper, personally. |
Also I saw in The Vermont Country Store catalog that you can't buy any of their pure licorice candy in California.

How many of our other tools are just as dangerous, blades, pins straight curved any metal object. .? Should we mask upand have thick gloves on before using our sewing machines etc
All life has a risk, crossing the road etc more dangerous than a minute chemical. Perhaps pregnant quilters should just beware. |
Look at the warning on cups of coffee. Maybe HOT

I buy the F&P ergonomically seam ripper. They fit comfortably in my hand.
