I have the white pencil. I have to have my patience securely in hand when I go to do this. Because I have to press hard and frequently go over it several times before I can see it well. I love the idea of a pen except I am left handed and would smudge it.

Speaking as a leftie myself (except I've learnt to use either hand for most things)... when I draw or mark with my left, I go from right to left. No words to form, so the direction doesn't matter; so, no smudging. Just an idea... :-)

The pouncer works well also. It's chalk in an eraser looking thing. You "pounce" over the stencil and it leaves some chalk on your quilt top.

I recently used soap and it worked great. The end of a used bar is best, something hard. I cut slivers off mine to make a finer line.

Easy to wash out, too
