I was using my 24" ruler tonight and droped it and broke the corner off  I didn't break it clean either. :(

Deecee 01-18-2010 10:31 PM

Well that was a silly thing to do!

Can you sand it smooth and still use it, or not?

amma 01-18-2010 10:32 PM

Oh No
I am so sorry :( :( :(

Papa John 01-18-2010 10:37 PM

Funny thing - I broke mine as well..I got a huge crack in the middle on 1 size...not sure what happened.........

Quilt Mom 01-19-2010 03:57 AM

I broke my 24" ruler also. Oh, well. Replacing will have to wait. It is only one corner, and I have been using the other side.

Are you near a joann's store, a 50 percent off coupon came in the mail the other day and I bought me a new ruler!

momto4 01-19-2010 06:01 AM

Oh man! So sry :(

nursie76 01-19-2010 06:03 AM

Don't you just hate it when that happens? So sorry!

beachlady 01-19-2010 06:19 AM

I have been using mine with a chipped corner. I have the 50% of coupon too - thanks for the idea of using it on a ruler.

Maride 01-19-2010 07:21 AM

I got one at a quilt shop closing and one corner was gone. I paid $2 for an 18 x 18 omnigrid. For that price, with or without corner. When I get to need that side I just flip it around. Never had a problem.

sewnsewer2 01-19-2010 03:47 PM

Whoo Hoo! My son fixed it for me with clear movers tape and she is like new again!!

Mundy 01-19-2010 03:51 PM

 I understand this well

paintedquilt 01-19-2010 03:53 PM

Doesn't that just want to make you spit :-( Been there, done that - I sanded it to round it off. I just realized that I have used my sander on more than one quilting tool ...

littlehud 01-20-2010 08:18 AM

That is so sad. We hate to lose our tools.

BellaBoo 01-20-2010 08:30 AM

If you have the pieces, put the pieces back in place wrong side up and then use a piece of clear strong packing tape to put over the pieces. I did that for one of my rulers until I could get another and I'm still using it. It works great for a crack in a ruler too. It doesn't interfere with moving the ruler on the fabric.

I have a friend who always got rulers with her 40/50% off coupon if she didn't find anything else in the store. She's got a very nice ruler collection now. :D

Sorry yours broke but glad you have a wonderful son to have fixed it for you!
