Wow, friends, this ruler is awesome!! I am FINALLY starting my floral log cabin ala Karla and now Deb.
I've been collecting florals for several months and have some nice fabric to work with.
I bought the ruler at Joanne's w/ a coupon but actually forgot about it. Does that tell you the condition of my sewing room??? hehehe
Anyway, I'm off and running with strips! It also has many other shapes you can cut and is very affordable!!
Hugs to all, Sue :D

Just some of my fabbies! Ohhh I long for Spring! :)

Aren't they wonderful, I've just about worn out mine and need a new one! Love, love them for strips especially.

BellaBoo 03-01-2011 12:18 PM

I use it to square up blocks more then cutting! It's great.

davidwent 03-01-2011 12:19 PM

That sounds like something I'd really like. Which size did you get? And is it 1/8 or 1/4 slot intervals? And can you use a 45mm rotary cutter? Thank you for the info. :)

sueisallaboutquilts 03-01-2011 12:26 PM

I used my 45 rotary cutter and went through 4 layers easily.
The increments are 1/2 inch.
Mine is about 16 inches square
They probably make a bigger one but I don't know. I wanted to see how I liked this one and I love it.

Thank you...that sounds like a perfect size and I like being able to use my 45.

beachlady 03-01-2011 12:35 PM

The ruler looks nice, but those forals are gorgeous. I have a few of them, but love the rest of yours.

dakotamaid 03-01-2011 12:35 PM

She does make a bigger one. I have the 1/8 cuts one and I just mark with blue tape where I'm supposed to cut when I'm cutting oddles of strips.

I have one and LOVE it!! I won't cut strips without mine now.

cheryl rearick 03-01-2011 12:48 PM

I think I also need one. My strips never come out straight s hard as I try. Thank you for sharing.

But there is a line for a 1/4" add-on. Suppose you want to cut 2 1/4" width. Line up the edge of your fabric on the "dashed" line to the right (or left) of the "0" slit then cut at 2".

Dakotamaid, what a good idea! Thanks

Funny, everyone wants a bigger one but I want a smaller one!

karenpatrick 03-01-2011 02:01 PM

I have one of these and the only problem I have with it is that it nicks the blades of my rotary cutter sometimes. But, otherwise, I love it.

AlwaysQuilting 03-01-2011 02:01 PM

I guess I should find mine and start using it.

luvstitches 03-01-2011 02:20 PM

I've been using mine for a few years now and I've had perfect strips. It's such a blessing how fast it goes too.
Glad you have one.

virtualbernie 03-01-2011 02:22 PM

I have 3 of them but use the 1/2 and 2 1/2 ones more! They are great! I also have the GO but actually prefer to use the June Taylor to cut strips.

grammy17 03-01-2011 02:34 PM

Can anyone post pictures of how you use it? I've seen it and got confused just looking at it.

texas8823 03-01-2011 02:35 PM

Those floral fabrics really are something. Just gorgeous.

hobbykat1955 03-01-2011 02:51 PM

Had mine for 3 yrs and I think I used it 3 times...Maybe I'll give it another look

barnbum 03-01-2011 03:41 PM

Oh I love the fabric on the right! Is that the same one as the strips? Are they Bleeding Hearts?? Gorgeous!

Are you making a traditional block, or will you make a curved one? What width are your strips???

I have a lot of questions, huh?

Karla, that fabric is sweet peas. I love it!
I'm not sure how I will position the strips yet. I want it to look like yours! lol
I cut 2 inch strips- hope they aren't too narrow. What do you think??
Thanks for looking!

Weelll... mine are 1.5" for florals and 1" for lights... and there are a lot of strips per block. I just counted--17 pieces per block. But--it'll look beautiful no matter what you do. I just like the effect of skinny strips.

GagaSmith 03-01-2011 04:25 PM

I have this ruler and love it. One tip for those who want to get one, if you are like me, not exactly a mathematical genius, get some small colored dots from the office supply section of a store. Stick them on the ruler where you want to make cuts just to make sure you cut the right sized strips or blocks. For example, if you are cutting 2 1/2" strips, put a dot at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2 etc. You can reuse the dots or just use new ones each time. They are very inexpensive and save on cutting errors.

Blue Bell 03-01-2011 04:33 PM

You will love the ruler. Can't wait to see your project.

MissSandra 03-01-2011 04:38 PM

I have to laugh, I have had one for all my quilting years lol all 8 of them. I think I tried using it a few times and it continues to sit on my desk collecting dust.

stitchesnstaples 03-01-2011 04:44 PM

I bought this to cut fleece blanket fringe before I started quilting. I cleaned my sewing room this weekend and hung it up on the wall. Thought to myself I should throw that away I won't ever use it again. LOL Now I know what it is really for. Can't wait to try it. Again I learned something new today. TA DA!

laurlync 03-01-2011 04:51 PM

I have one and LOVE it!! It is my go-to ruler. If there is any way I can use it instead of a regular ruler, I will. In fact, about the only time I use my 5 x 23 ruler is when I am ruler folding my fabric.

Grammie, the June Tailor website has a much better demo than I could ever do. Check it out!

I was at the quilt shop today and the owner was showing us her ruler. She using what she called glow strips under the slots where she needed to cut. made sense...place one at the 3", 6", 9" and 12" and have 4 strips cut in no time. And...never cut if the tap is not under the the slot. She said the glow strip is easy to reposition.
Want to get me one of these because I spend more time position my ruler than cutting strips and it kills my hand to press down on the 5" ruler I use to keep it from slipping.

Pickles 03-01-2011 11:16 PM

Wow, One more thing I can only dream of wishing I could afford :D

Joy Higdon 03-02-2011 02:31 AM

Call me stupid but I have one of these and it has intimidated me so that I have not tried to use it.

Yooper32 03-02-2011 02:46 AM

I have three. Wouldn't be without any of them. Greatest thing since sliced bread.

hospicenurse 03-02-2011 02:50 AM
