I've started to use the decorative stitches more. I used the little star design on a
Christmas wall-hanging. I've used the serpentine stitch a time or two.
The "stem" stitch for quilt as you go (#65 on the Janome 6600) - a good way to
ensure everything is holding together because it alternates between left and right.
The asterisk is good for holding the border when I had no idea how to quilt it.
It's like tacking without the tails. Have fun!

I have a Viking Lily 550 (about 15 yrs old) and I use a great many of the decorative stitches in quilting. Especially if your Quilt as you go seams. Also the old serpentine is a favorite for borders and STD.

I rarely use the decorative stitches for some reason. Thanks for the reminder. I like he looks of the different stitches, but forget to use them.
