I am thinking of using some decorative stitches on a quilt and have a question. when i need to end the stitch, can i hit lock and have it stitch a locking stitch even if the decorative stitch isn't finished yet? i have a Janome MC4800.

I am not sure about your locking stitch feature.
But when I do this, when I get to where I want to stop, I switch to a straight stitch and then use the locking stitch feature  |
I was wondering if i had to do that. thanks,

I have the MC9000, it will finish the pattern repeat before doing the locking stitch :D

i was trying out an X stitch and hit the lock button and it did one more stitch and then did a lock stitch. so worked on that one.

There is a Yahoo! group for Janome Memory Craft machines and their owners that you could check.
|
I did that but no answer yet, thanks.

You can just lock the stitch anywhere you stop, even with a decorative stitch.

I had the same question about locking a stitch down when- bringing the bobbin thread up to the quilt top while quilting..Then I found a youtube vid on Cheater Needles, under ( how to tie a knot in thread for hand-sewing or quilting)..
It looked soooo easy to do...I got a pack at DaySyleDesigns(dot)com Sorry if I'm preaching to the choir..Very much a newbie here...But figured it could help someone out there lol |
My Janome QC6260's locks any of its decorative stitches by stopping the decorative pattern and stitching a few short straight stitches - I don't have to change from my selected stitch at all.
