If you get yourself some Modge Podge (I hope you are getting 40% coupons at Michaels) you can make fabulous crafts from even the smallest scraps. We have turned plastic bottles into vases. done flower pots, pillar candles. cigar boxes, etc. You could crazy "quilt" an old chest, dresser, etc. Kids love it because it's easy and satisfying. I think this is "upcycling"!

What a great idea. If my kids where little(1 still is but too little) I would do this with them to keep them busy. Thanks for the idea. I will have to rememeber this for Gk's years down the road. I hope.

Think about making crafts to go with your quilts. I cut out little animals from a baby quilt project and put them on a lamp for baby's room. Charming! Decoupage a piece of wood & glue on a mirror. So many ideas.Lamp shades, coasters.
And kids do love them.

At one of the lqs in my area, they have a 'rug' made from Kaffe scraps and Mod Podge. It's really pretty!

great idea
I'm new to quilting but I think I might get a canvas & add scraps from all my projects as a record of each effort.

HEY! WHAT A SUPER NEAT IDEA..... thanks

Another idea for scraps, crochet strips, braid them, weave them.
Or put them in a baggie & give them to someone who will. Senior centers love getting art supplies.

Hey ToucanSam,
I'd love to see that rug. How 'bout a picture next time you go ?

My DH went off for Easter to visit his grandbabies. Elise is 4, almost 5 and the little one is 1. I sent him with quilts for the girls, of course, and a bunch of scraps from the the quilts, brushes and modpodge along with the project sheet for making a fabric bowl from Moda Bakeshop. Grandpa and Elise had a great time making a matching Easter bowl.

I do a lot of magnetic fridge picture frames for my friends using scraps. People with kids and pets just love them.

That sounds like so much fun. I need to try that with DGD.

You ladies really get me to thinking!! I was getting ready to throw out some teeny tiny scraps and now I can't get rid of them. They probably would be really cute as a mosiac on something. All these ideas and no time!!!

I made a mat to go under my dogs bowl. It's called a floorquilt and you make it using by glueing fabric to canvas then decoupodge it. The pic didn't turn out too good but you can get the idea.

These are really cool ideas. These might be a great way to entertain my kids for a few hours some day this summer.
