denim circles and charm squares quilt question
Help! I want to make a denim quilt using denim circles folded to the front, similar to mock Cathederal Windows. I want to use my 5" precut charm squares inside the circles. What size do I need to cut the denim circles? Thanks.

Try with a piece of paper....8" circle?

It depends on how you are going to finish your circle edges. Some people like them to fray naturally after top stitching about 1/8 from the edge. Draw your charm square on a piece of paper and the circle should be just a bit bigger so the the corners of the squares almost touch the circle edge for just the 1/8 top stitching one.

Measure your 5" charm corner to corner. That is 7".
so, 7", unless you want the fraying, then, what? 7-1/2" for two 1/4" frayings? |
I have done one of these before and I did mine 7".
