denim fabric
a qb friend gave me lots and lots of denim fab.
I want to do something GREAT with all this fab suggestions please. |
I made a denim quilt for my son. He is a long haul truck driver so anything takes a beating in the truck. I cut all the different denims into squares and threw in some squares of different plaid flannel. I started making 9 patches. Then I sewed the 9 patches together until I got the size quilt I wanted. I put a poly batt in it and a flannel back and played with my mom's long arm to quilt it and added flannel binding. My son loves it! It is not the prettiest quilt I have ever made but it has been the most used and best traveled one!! I named it "Junk Yard Dog" because of the denim and flannel scraps I used in it. He says it is the warmest quilt he has ever had.

Hi Lynnie,
I am thinking hobo purses, tote bags, wallets or cosmetic bags. It would be good to machine embroider onto. It is so durable, that a man's work apron or tool bag would be an option too. |
Hi Lynnie, I have made three denim quilts. Are the denims from jeans, or fabric? I made two with strips, and the other with squares, and rectangles. I didn't put batting in between. I used flannel.

One friend made denim chenille throw rugs. She just throws them in the washer and drier. Since she uses old denim she doesn't have a great investment. They still look great after quite a while on her floors, esp in the kitchen.

rag quilt ----i made a rug with strips of denim sewed across the center to a old bath towel .....heavy but everyone loves it

Denim makes wonderful rag quilts. I have made several of them & are everyone's favorite. I use fleece for the backings & no batting. They are really warm.

any pics of the denim quilts???
|
I made a denim rag quilt. I used regular cotton fabric on the front.
I will see if I still have the picture. Maybe I posted it on here before ill go look and see as well. |
I pick up denim jeans at the thrift store to make regular and rag quilts and doggie bed covers for their beds for my dogs. It is much sturdier than cotton and last a long time.
