Have you thought about using something like a foamular insulation board? You could put black on one side and white on the other, that way you'd have the best of both worlds. Or you could put up a white wall and if you needed something with more contrast you could always in some black batting on top of it.

ksdot417 is brilliant! Use foam and cover both sides, one light and one black. I think I will do this. Thanks ksdot417.

It may just be the pictures, but the black seems to make the colors stand out more. I think the idea of making it with foam board and putting white on one side and black on the other is a very good idea. The only problem I can see is the black showing through the background and distorting the colors on the quilt.

The foamular board I used (it's found at a home improvement place in their insulation section) is about 2 inches thick so I it won't show through. It's really sturdy and can even be cut down to fit the space.

I do to many quilts in black so wouldn't work for me. Someone on this board said that they used grey felt and that is what I'm going to use on my design wall when I move into my new room.
