Hi ladies and gents!

I know someone here will be able to help me!

So, I am working on a quilt for a customer, and they are getting quite anxious! So I need to get it done soon.
However, regardless of me checking my calculations OVER and OVER again, it appears that I did NOT order enough fabric.

You would think, "ok, no problem, just order more!".

I would, however, Connecting Threads doesn't have the main color anymore!!! It's a Mirage fabric, but that particular color is not on their website.

So, I have now come up with the idea of creating some sort of center piece, maybe paper pieced, so that I can just use the blocks I have to sort of border that center piece.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a center block that would work well with the dutchman's puzzle block?

I need your help and I need it fast!!

Thanks Ladies and Gents!!!!

I don't know how big your centerpiece needs to be ...

I suggest a large star, like the carpenters wheel. It has triangles like the dutchman puzzle.

worth a try and nothing to lose.

Airwick156 04-20-2011 10:07 AM

Post a picture of the fabric here maybe someone has some they would part with. It wouldn't hurt to at least try. Good luck.

RUSewing 04-20-2011 10:09 AM

Can you post a pic of the fabric? Title it ISO this fabric. Many times someone will have it in their stash. Good Luck!

you could try ebay to but any block you come up with will look good with that block.

tjradj 04-20-2011 01:01 PM

If the fabric were from Northcott, they have a reference on their site where you can look up which store ordered what. Not sure if other companies do that.

Fox & geese at quilterscache

you will have to enlarge the pattern to fit your block size.

Call CT. They will be more then willing to help you if they can.

JulieR 04-20-2011 01:33 PM

In addition to contacting CT, have you asked if anyone has some in Classifieds?

whinnytoo 04-20-2011 01:34 PM

try posting the fabric on www.missingfabrics.com. maybe you can find more! Ive had excellent results from this site.
good luck!

Jammin' Jane 04-20-2011 01:34 PM

I am confident someone on this board has some of the material you are needing. Post a picture so we can see it!

MadQuilter 04-20-2011 02:58 PM

Have you looked elsewhere for the Mirage Fabric? There are lots of online stores and it's close to Easter. Maybe the Fabric bunny can hop and help you find some.

i can't suggest a pattern, but if you know the name of the fabric you can look for it at quiltshops.com (has every quilt shop that exists practically)...i heard you can scan a pattern and locate it at www.findmyfabric.com...good luck!

There is also a site called missing fabrics (http://www.missingfabrics.com/) where you can go and post the fabric you need to see if anyone out there has some of it. I have responded to several people in need of fabric here and I think its a good source for those who ran short of a certain fabric and need more. We all know how quickly those fabrics go out of print!

Someone on this board may have the fabric you need. Why don't you post a request to buy some in the classifieds?

Pattycakes 04-21-2011 08:00 AM

Sugar Pumpkin

Sense your material is by Mirage, try to go to their web site and see if you can order the material. Your salvage should have a lot number so you can put it in the search engine on their site and possibly find the same material. Just a thought! Or if you want to go with a center piece on the quilt, if the material has a design or character make a larger design and applique it to the center.
I did that to a piece I made of Pooh. I fussy cutted the pieces and appliqued it to a piece of green material and put 5" blocks around it.
But we could use a picture of the various pieces to give you a better idea if these won't work for you. Good Luck!

BettyGee 04-21-2011 10:42 AM

If you post a pix I will check my stash right away.

peppermint31 04-21-2011 03:48 PM

I agree, I'd be surprised if someone here didn't have some. We love connecting threads and lots of folks order from it.

RuthV 04-23-2011 02:53 AM

I Would definately give CT a call. I have found not all things are always on the website at many stores. They just may have it still onhand.

bevster 04-23-2011 02:59 AM

Have you the 200 quilt shops. Just type in what fabric you are looking for and you will be really surprised how many shops pop up that have the fabric you are looking for. "http://quiltshops.com/index.html

ging10ging 04-26-2011 04:50 PM

Do you have time to put out a distress signal and beg the ladies here to see if anyone has any you could buy? Have you tried calling Connecting Threads to see if maybe they have some that is not listed on line?
