DGD Princess Quilt - Need some reassurance

8 Attachment(s)
DS picked out this Disney Princesses panel for DGD's quilt for her bed. I'm sorta OCD, so scrappy is outside my comfort zone. I'm using colors that are in the panel. First pic is of the pillow sham top, pieced but not completed. 2nd is the panel. 3rd is the whole quilt, just laid out. 4-7 are the individual edges around the panel. 8 is the 1st border (also around the panel), the princess border, and the striped binding. Let me tell you, this has been a big P**A. The princess yardage is not printed evenly across the fabric (surprise, surprise). I trusted my memory and cut 4 1/2" fussy cut princess squares. No, it was supposed to be 5". It actually worked out better, but who knew at that moment, especially not my blood pressure. Bought a new border fabric, color wasn't right. Bought a pink fabric for the pillowcase. Wasn't real thrilled about it. Finally found the right light pink for the 3/4" borders. Had to buy 3 more yards of the princess yardage because the borders are now going to be 8" instead of 4 1/2" like originally planned. The repeat is 8". The princesses get cut off where ever it falls.
I really like the pillow sham top. I think that I like the quilt, but as that is not my thing, I'm asking the experts. You guys do scrappy much better and more often than me.
So tell me what you think. I can take it (I think).

So cute, I love it. Your scrappy is great and your DGD will love it! You did a great job!

I like it. Like the colors and layout. I like how you are planning the borders too. I would probably put 4 rows of blocks above the panel and 3 below. That way when it's on the bed, you will be able to see the panel even when the top of the quilt is folded down when she is in bed. Your DGD is going to love it!

I laid the panel on a twin bed that I have. 3 rows on the top + a 5" border centers the panel in the bed. Now w/the border being 8", it should still work out fine. She get the quilt, pillow sham, pillowcase, and probably a throw pillow. Already bought her 6 princess (Barbie size) dolls. There were $4.99 each. Not that I spoil her or anything.

Wow princess heaven!!! You are going to score major Grandma of the year points! She's going to love it, and you're doing scrappy like a pro. Great job.

Tartan,
Is that the quilter's version of "Git R Done". If so, I like it. Should be your slogan. And I need to. I've already changed one block. The longer it sits unsewn, the more I will obsess and change things.

I love, love, love that you chose so many of the colors from the panel! This isn't your "typical" pink and purple princess quilt! It looks fabulous! Can't wait to see it finished.
