I think for your quilt top, some contrasting quilting on those purple sashing pieces would look wonderful--what about a "curly ribbon" or swirls design? Both are pretty easy to FMQ, and would look great. I think I'd use yellow thread to match the little stirps beside it. can I come to your house and you teach me how to make those beautiful feathers? |
I haven't made one yet but,if I did I would FMQ it as that is just about what I do on all my quilts.

I did a big meander with variegated thread. Both of the quilts pictured are gorgeous.

I'm making my first braid quilt and intend to do small feathers in each braid. Only hope it doesn't look over - done and will vary the feather for interest.

I wish I could take credit for the fabulous quilting...that isn't mine. My main concern is what to quilt in the braid strips. The purple was going to get something similar to what you suggested. I think yellow thread is a good choice. |
