A different D9P quilt and a question
I was doing some searching about D9P quilts and found this one. It is cut a bit different than I have seen, it is the second one down. My question if you take a look, it almost looks as if there is sashing between the cuts. That is the only thing i can figure. In any case it is very pretty. Thought I could copy and paste, but it will not work. So have included a link. The top one has prairie points and it is nice as well.

I only see one quilt on that link, front and back. There is a link that tells how to make it, and she did use sashing. It is pretty.

It does look like sashing between the blocks. I'm not sure what your question is. As Dunster said, there's a link to a tutorial that shows you how the quilt was constructed, maybe the answer to your question is there?

Yes it is sashimg between the blocks.
|
And yet another neat block that started out with a 9 patch. Cutting the outside frame away & exchanging that frame with another block's center..... hmmmm..... another project to think about!
|
Silly me, when I was looking at the back of the quilt I thought it was another quilt, that had strips sewn between the acual blocks of the nine patch. In any case it is very nice and I like the look of that quilt. Thanks for answering, have to look closer next time. :)

thimblebug's got it! you have to click on the link for the tutorial. interesting technique

Nifty idea

Love it - but I am trying to figure out the layout for one solid square in the center. I am doing a D9P large table runner right now so I will have to play with that layout.
|
On the right side there is another pattern called disappearing nine patch with charm squares. click on that and you will see they made two blocks and cut and switched the pieces.

I think what looks like sashing between the cuts on the 2nd one may be the shadow from the seam allowances on the back of the quilt top. The photo must have been taken with the sun behind it. I agree with you, they are both pretty patterns.

That is very pretty. Thank you for posting the link.

I like the variation. I'm looking for quick graduation quilts so I will keep this in mind. Thank you.

This is a little confusing, but having made several d9p's, my doesn't look like that. I clicked on the blue line and there is a "second page" with d9p!
|
can't figure that out too

I have made the disappearing 9 patch. Its kind of fun rearranging them to create your own design.
