I'm wanting to purchase this mag Quiltmaker Magazine September / October 2009
via digital download, but when I get to the payment info, it's charging me shipping.
Has anyone else ran across this with digital download?

I have written the company and am waiting for a reply. I just don't think it's right to charge for shipping when nothing is being shipped to me.

I had that hapapen to me on a digital pattern. I backed out quickly - no way am I paying shipping on a digital download.

The company emailed and asked why I backed out without buying.

I answered back about the shipping charge. Never heard another word from them.

that would seem very strange. i hope they can find a way to correct it.

Now that a new one I had not seen before. I am really stunned at this one.

I wouldn't pay for shipping on a digital download either!!

I have gotten that before but when I got to the final checkout the shipping charge was gone.. I would not pay for digital shipping either!

I posted on the other thread too. Did you put your zip code in the area for "calculate shipping"? If so, I would back out, delete the item from the cart and start over. Add the item to the cart, skip the "calculate shipping", enter your shipping and credit card info, and see if the shipping charge is on the invoice before confirming. My bet is that it will not be on that final invoice. There's probably a programming glitch in the software for shipping charges, but it's probably corrected before you confirm your order.

Here is what else bothers me about digital patterns, although convinent, why are we charge the same amount for the pattern that is shipped? Sure we are saving on the shipping, but don't you think that if a pattern was 9.99 + shipping, why would the pattern be 9.99 digital....often wondered that. Because if you think about it, they are making double for one pattern, for every digital pattern they sell, they probably sell the paper one...Am I making sense.

I heard of this issue - I got Quilters World - digital and no shipping

I like the idea of digital patterns but they have so many pages to print out. I think they should be selling for about $5.00 each. It is clear profit for them and lots of ink for us. I like the fact that I can store the pattern on my computer and don't add to my collection of paper. It will improve with time.

Just had it happen to me but I sent an email to the company and they credited my account right away.

Digital patterns still have to be digitized, tested & computers & software purchased not to mention the web hosting and site maintenance so I don't think a digital copy should necessarily be any cheaper than a paper copy but I would also refuse to pay shipping for a digital version. I have backed out of many sales because of outrageous shipping charges.

Totally agree with you...not to mention having to pay Paypal and/or other
credit card companies a fee per transaction.

Question: Can you just SAVE the digital magazines to look at later? Because I don't really want to keep everything in them and prefer to browse in my ?downtime.

I have been looking for free quilt patterns and when I went to print it a window popped up and they tried to charge me $2.00 for the "Free" download????? I got an email from them to pay the $2.00 just for looking on the website and I let them know that free is free and was going to report them for fraud. There website is gone now. It is so sad that there are so many people looking for a fast buck and who can you really trust on the internet these days. I am just going to stick with the ones I have and stick with the quilting board period.

That's strange.
