Which direction is better for fmq? pushing the quilt away from you or toward you? thanks

I seemed to have better luck when I pulled it toward myself. I am new at FMQ so there may be a better way.

You may need to do it both ways, depending on where the next area to be quilted is. Sometimes even side to side.

It's easier for me to move it away from me. Just my way I guess.

I pull towards me, away from me and side to side. I much prefer my motion when I am pulling it towards me. I can see where I have been and don't worry about crossing over stitches. It's a personal preference.

It is easier to see what you are doing when you pull away from you and side to side :D:D:D
