I'm going to be starting a Disappearing 9 patch, what would you quilter's pick for the size of the blocks ? Connie in CO

Many of us use the 5 inch charm size but other sizes work well also. Remember the larger the square you start with the less scrappy it will look. Do a search for D9P and see the different ones people have made.

Hi it depends on what size quilt I am making and hoow fast I want to finish.

deema 02-07-2011 05:40 AM

I've used 6" squares to start. Both of the D9P's I've worked on were not scrappy and had a focus fabric that I really wanted to stand out. It really depends on what you're looking for.

Love the Paisley!! I'm a paisley lover also! Most definitely do a D9P on the Search. I've made them from 3" squares all the way up to 12" squares (I had a paisley that I wanted to dominate the pattern). There are many beautiful, beautiful pictures on here. Do the search, you'll be glad you did!! :-)

In the Gallery of Quilts on the picture page,I'm liking sewsewquiltes's.

raptureready 02-07-2011 06:15 AM

I tried one with 3 1/2" squares, only I strip sewed them first. I quickly learned to hate it so now it's gone into my UFO basket. I've seen some beautiful ones on here, unfortunately mine isn't.
