Chattanooga Quilt Show

I was glad the show was so close by and I could go without DH and stay as long as I wanted. I went 2 days to be sure and take it all in. I enjoyed all of it. The display quilts were wonderful to see and admire. I enjoyed the vendors who had quilting goods to sell as they have things that local shops don't have. Also I got to see a friend from a state where I once lived and glad to see that her shop is still open for business. The parking was close enough for me since I don't walk well. I got tired but still enjoyed the whole thing. Maybe next year I will get time to take some of the classes. I still think it was good and will go again as long as I am able.

Makes me wonder if the economy is effecting thses vendors. Perhaps their budget isn't large enough to hit as many shows as they have in the past. Think about it, how many local quilt shops have had to close their doors in the last few years becauseof this stinking economy??

Hi -- could you describe the couple of quilts that looked like they were submitted by a first time quilter from a quilting 101 class? Most of the quilts I saw were very intricately pieced and quilted.

I enjoyed the Chattanooga AQS Show very much & was there everyday for classes. I thought everyone did a spectacular job on the organization. I also expected a larger turnout, in both attendees, vendors & quilts. IMHO this occurred because .. There was a competing show 90 miles away in Atlanta drawing both vendors & attendees for the same dates. You can't be in 2 places at once. The number of quilts shown were probably reflective of the number of quilts submitted overall & per category. If people don't enter quilts they won't have much to choose from. I saw a couple there that looked like they were submitted by a first time quilter from a quilting 101 class with no visual impact. My guess is they didn't have enough entries to choose from. This was the first year & I imagine next yr will be even better.
