I have all of my table runner done except for the binding. Just can't figure out how to get the two ends to meet around the end point. I've been at if for two days and it's a wonder the fabric hasn't broken down from so much trying. I've read and read on the net and watched videos but still can't get it.

I have enjoyed working on it and learned a lot but maybe I am just not meant to be a quilter. I feel so dumb having been sewing for over 40 years.

Yes, Cindy, binding is a :evil: ! My ends never join to suit me either. Just wait a bit and some of the experts on here will help you out.

Don't give up. On the next project you can always cut the backing larger and fold it to the front for binding or pillow case it. There are always ways to get around the :twisted: in quilting!

Are you trying to join the ends and go around a point at the same time? Or do you mean you can get the ends joined properly on a straight area? A pic would help...

If all else fails pack up your machine and the table topper and go to the Local Quilt shop and ask for help..LOL. I do it ALL the time! You might want to call first. Good luck and do NOT give up! :D

Doing a binding on any shape other than a square can be intimidating.
If you're trying to join the ends at a point, you're probably making it more difficult on yourself.
If you have any fabric left, try adding a piece to your binding so it will extend to a straight piece of quilt. You might have to pick out some of your starting binding.
Once you have the two ends, with some extra length to play with, take your last part of binding you sewed on and leave about 3", then fold it 45degrees onto the quilt and press it there. Then take a TINY line of Elmers School Glue and run it along the folded 45 degree edge. then place your beginning strip and lay it on top and press. This will stick them together until you can sew them. Then take the two ends that are glued together and unfold them so they lay flat. There should be a crease line from where you folded the 45 degree angle. Use that as a sewing line and stitch a seam. Test it by folding the binding in half again and seeing if you've done it right. After testing, then pull the glued seam apart to separate the glue and trim that seam allowance to 1/4" or so, and finger press the seam open. Then refold the binding, and finish sewing it on.
Don't get discouraged. Even veteran quilters mess it up once in a while! Once you get it - do a happy dance!

I am trying to join the two ends and go around a point. I haven't had a problem with the binding till I got to that point. I must have done something wrong when I started.
I've watched both those videos.
