Discovered something new

I decided I wanted to try machine quilting on tricot. Tricot is nylon fabric that slips are mad out of, and sometimes you will find panties made with tricot as well as nightgowns. I love it. My baby brother had a quilt made of tricot and I have two, one that my aunt made and one that my great grandmother made. All of them were handquilted. I have some extra tricot from a project, so I decided to try machine quilting it. I put together a sandwich with tricot on top, poly batting, and tricot on bottom, then used a ballpoint size 11 needle, and regular thread, the maxi lock, so probably polyester thread, and it quilted great. I did the same kind of sandwich but used cotton batting. I found I liked the poly better, because of the puff that it gives.

I usually hand quilt tricot quilts, but they take forever, and I have found if I work on them anywhere but my sewing room, and leave them out, the little pug that we have likes to take the batting from the quilt.

Anywya, just wanted to share a discovery.
