I also do machine embroidery I have a Janome 9700. I do mostly projects for Grandkids. My next project is a hamburger w/onion, tomato, cheese & lettuce for my G-daughter. I got the design from Digi stitches. I love Embroidery Library & Designsbysick. I have only been ME for a couple of yrs. and have so much to learn.

I have a little 4" embroidery machine I bought to use on charity baby quilts, but haven't used it much at all. Don't have the time with everything else I am trying to do. I have seen beautiful quilts made using designs from an embroidery machine though and they are awesome.

I just got and Elna 8200 for Christmas and I am loving it. I had/have some serious learning to do and still do but too impatient to wait for my free class--end of March. Learning to get the files to the computer was frustrating to say the least, this is not covered in the book properly. I have been embroidering bibs, needlebook covers, shirts, bag pockets, burp cloths, it goes on and on. I LOVE THIS MACHINE!! Already thinking of a bigger one and how I could use that. I am not ready for digitizing but I am sure I will be finding someone to do things for me. I am loving this thread and would so love to see an embroidery sub-cat that would be fantastic.

Last year I went shopping for a new sewing machine and came home with a Brother Duetta 4500D...and I absolutely love it!!! I had never done ME before but after the demonstation the lady did at the store with it, I knew it had to go home with me. Still new and learning alot about threads, stabalizer and tension in the hoop but Im having alot of fun. Currently using PE lite and would like to get PE7 or PE8. Interested in hearing anyones feedback on those programs.
Happy Embroidery everyone!

I have embroideryed in blocks and made other blocks to fill in, turned out pretty good.

I have quilted 2 large quilts on my PE770 embroidery machine. I use outline patterns or redwork and hoop every block. No stabilizer is needed, you have 3 layers already. The thing that takes the longest of course, is the placement of the squares. I lift the quilt somewhat, so it does not drag on the arm. They came out beautiful, but I am not sure, if it would not be faster to draw design and stitch on regular machine. On one quilt I did over 225 hoopings. My granddaughters loved them though and that is all that matters.

I was wondering about this subject too. I use my Janome 1100 SE and 1001 for all my sewing. There are some lovely "quilt block" designs around, but surely it would involve using the QAYG method, which I am a bit apprehensive about. It seems better to embroider the block first then assemble as normal, but of course the quilt would not be quilted would it? I have thought of doing an embroidered corner flower spray, or something flowing like vines and leafs instead of applique to see how that would work. But QAYG no way that's going to happen for me.

I do both. I embroidery designs and put them in my quilts. Especially baby quilts. I use cotton embroidery thread for that. I have a Jamone 11000Se and MB4. Love them both.

I actually was doing Emb before quilting....One day I needed a baby gift for a shower and didn't want to go shopping so I made an EM quilt on jersey fabric.....Thus starting my quilting journey....I never shop anymore except at LQS or fabric supply stores...some of the babies I made them for are now 10 yrs old and moms have paid me to make twin size one with this fabric...it washes beautiful and is sew cozy...i use it on the front and on the back....I now try all kinds of quilting and emb....seperate or together....I'm hooked.......BTW can someone direct me to the emb quilt that was posted on the picture forum in Dec. I think...It was a beautiful emb flower baskets/flowers quilt....i have looked and looked and can t find it...It was the more beautiful quilt I have ever seen....Thk you ...
