Do foot controls get old?
It seems lately i can't manage the speed of my stitching any more.....it's either too slow or too fast...usually too fast. Do foot pedals get old and cranky??? Note...i have checked...there is nothing in the pedal that would be messing it up.

Don't we all?

Next time you take your DSM in for servicing, I would have them check the pedal out.
|
Take the pedal apart and clean it. That helps with most old ones.

They do get old. I had to replace the one for my old Singer. My Viking is getting bad. They said a new one would be about $80. I checked online and it was no cheaper, that I could find. I think he said it was the solenoid. I'm going to live with mine or a while before I spend that kind of money.

I am on the third one. My machine is an older one and nothing else seems to have worn (at least to quit), but the foot.
|
I would think that there is some spot that is wearing and therefore not as smooth as it once was. Some things get better with age...... maybe foot pedals, not so much.

The foot pedal gets a lot of use and with weight on top if it when in use. When it's time for a new one it's time for a new one. Why hassle with one that doesn't work right.

I had one that shocked me...opened and found loose wires. It also sewed sooooo slowly...My son opened it and fixed that! It is still on my 50 year old Singer

Homespun, my foot control did the same thing. Scared the living daylights out of me! I promptly took my machine in and had things checked out. I was concerned that it might short out and cause a fire.
