I'm planning to make some cell phone carriers with a magnet closure, namely, round ms34n nickel magnetic snaps. Does anyone know if these interfere with the inter-workings of a cell phone? And, do you know if they would mess up a credit card?
Thanks for your knowledge! |
there are leather pouchs that have have magnets on the flap, i have one and my cell is not affected

Check one of the phone carriers. I have a smart phone and when I bought it my carrier suggested I not put in the pourse I was carrying due to magnet. I asked about magnetic flap on ase and he said the magnet is incased in leather. May not hurt to call a local shop and ask.

They definately affect credit cards , found out the hard way when I used a new bag while on vacation.... it wiped out the mag stripe on the back.... none of my cards would work. Did I mention I was on vacation..... what a disaster!
They can effect some cell phones, as they are more than just a phone .. many have computer chips that will be adversley effected ! I would use velcro or some other closure method. |
I know magnetic closures on purses effect motel room keys! Sucks!!

Hmm, Thanks for the information. I didn't even think about any of these.

They effect computer flash drives too if you carry one in your purse

Wow, all those things that are affected by the magnetic clasps!!! I do know I was told that eel skin wallets affect the magnetic strip on credit cards....I had to change my credit card a couple of times before the bank inquired about the kind of wallet I was using.
