Or place the pieces together and zig zag with the biggest stitch you can do. A friend of mine gets batting scraps from others, then cuts them into squares; she'll pair two half-square-triangles (right sides together with the batting square on the wrong side of one of the blocks), stitch them together (with an opening), turn them inside out and fuse the opening shut. She has a never-ending supply of these stuffed blocks, which she sews together to make perfectly reversible quilts of varying sizes. She finishes the quilt with a simple stitching along the diagonals of the blocks. |
I haven't read through all 9 pages yet, but the small bits of poly batting can be used to stuff throw pillows with, too! :) Or dog beds, etc.

I hand whip scraps together.
I use a slip knot for a knot, go down left hand batting, up immediately next to stitch, needle thru the loop, pull tight. You are up on the left, sewing about 1/2"-3/8" from the edge. stitch down in between the 2 battings, up on the right batting, down in between, up on the left batting. always up through the batting & down in the seam. When you pull it tight, it butts, no lumping, the stitches inbetween keep it from bunching. stiches are about 3 to an inch. goes really fast. |
Save everything! Smallest scraps I use to stuff cushions for humane society animals.

I ALWAYS keep mine. I make mug rugs, place mats, quilted Christmas ornaments and Art Quilts where I try new techniques. They run about 9x12 size. I also make post cards and ATC's (artists trading cards). If you have a felting machine, the batting also makes a good base. Keep it all.

I save my batting scraps and donate them to the art center in Buchanan, Michigan for their annual scarecrow project.

I keep my batting scrsps left over when I trim a quilt. I use these scraps as the filling in my ragg quilts. I sew the scraps together to make 8 inch blocks for the ragg quilts.

Yes I keep mine and zig zag them together especially for small quilts and wall hangings

I hand-sewed a bag of little pieces together recently. I called it my Frankenstein's Monster project and I used it in my MIL's owl quilt. Worked fabulous & you'd never know I hand sewed each piece to the next. No lumps, no bumps! :-)

i save all of mine , sometimes i can use them to make my batting larger or i make mock quilts with scraps for top and backing to practice FMQ
