Do you ever try to re-create a memory? I am caught up in memories of my grandmothers and great aunts quilts. It is the main reason I started quilting. The beautifully simple , softly faded quilts are always in the back of my mind. I love all the quilts that everyone POST, yet went I dream/ plan/ buy fabric, it is always about those quilts. Its not just the quilts themselves, but about all the feelings, simple times, good smells,an incredable feeling of belonging.....seeing my aproned grandmothers' rough aged hands cooking, washing dishes, smoothing the quilts on the bed...

I can understand that! Sometimes it's a color, or an impressionistic blend of shades, or even a fragrance, that can evoke a memory.

The scent of snapdragons always takes me back to my childhood.

Yes, after my Mom passed away, I put her quilts away! Didn't want to look at them. I got busy making things out of her house coats, she loved, I made woven rugs, for my sister for Christmas.
This fall, I needed my Mom's quilts out, washed, hung out to dry as she would... and I put it on our bed, crawled under it, I can remember the night she passed, I was curled up next to her with my siblings. It was a wonderful feeling. And I have slept great with the quilt. I can see her hands as we hand quilted it.
