I have just learned how to stitch on the machine and the ones I did this yea looked nice but when I entered them in the fair they Sid not win curst place and they always have.

I have tried binding by machine and I just don't like it. The stitching on the back is never perfect for me. So, until I found out how to make it perfect on the back, I will continue to machine sew on the front and hand sew on the back.

It grips the fabric better while you are doing FMQ.

allmost always by hand only very few more crafty things by machine...

Machine stitch front then had stitch to back. Like this look better. It is relaxing to hand stitch the binding. I also do some hand quilting but putting binding on is easier. The look is more neat.

I machine attach to the front and then hand sew onto the back. I've tried it by machine and the edge of the quilt feels too stiff to suit me whether sitching in the ditch or using a decorative stitch.

I do mine all by hand as I can't seem to master doing it by machine.

I serge the edge first on the ones for children or charity--MUCH easier then!

This is exactly what I do...took a long time to get the machine binding to be consistent and for me to be happy with the look, but I have finally done so. Makes for much quicker quilting.

I find when I use my walking foot, the machine does a fantastic job.

I machine stitch the binding to the back of the quilt. Fold it over and then I use a blanket stitch on the right side by machine.
