Do you buy kits for quilts and projects? If so from where?

Do you pre wash the fabric in kits?

Thanks everyone in advance!

I was looking at Connecting threads kits.

No. I don't buy kits. I like picking out my own fabric. That is half the fun. I wash all my fabric before I use it.

I have only done a couple of kits. Both of them were short on one fabric. So now I am a little gun-shy. Especially since they were both bought out of town!

I love kits!!! I'm a beginner so it is nice to have everything there. I just wish they would include the patterns in the kit. During our shophop I saw lots of kits at great prices that had no patterns and none available.

I have only bought my kits at my LQS

I don't prewash anything. Just when i sew clothes.

I haven't bought one yet, but have been tempted! I guess I just like to torture myself with the decision of fabric. Besides, they can be expensive. I've never bought all my fabric for a project..all at once. Alittle here....alittle there.

I've only bought a couple of kits. One looked really pretty, but now that it's in the works, I don't care for it. There are too many prints of similar value and together it looks boring. The other has a couple of fabrics I don't really like, but maybe they will look ok when it's done.

I prefer to select my own fabrics. I like to get a variety of prints/marbles/tonals so that there is more visual interest. I haven't really priced it out, but I would guess a kit is a bit more money. There's not much room for error, so if I buy another, I'll buy a few FQs to match, just in case.

I do not prewash kits or precut fabrics, but I do prewash everything else.

I have bought kits from Hancocks of Paducah, Keepsake Quilting, Connecting Threads, one BOM from Joannes...are any of them done yet? Nope! And I am eyeing another one from Keepsake. Now I just have the get the money for it...I wish they would do layaway! LOL!

I bought a kit for my bow tuck purse from connecting threads. Ample fabric (had I done it correctly) and quality fabric. The link to the bow tucks tutorial would have been helpful when I was working on my purse. I saw the link to the tutorial after I had made some mistakes. I like kits because choosing cordinating fabrics is not my strong suit.!

I do not prewash so any block exchanges are not only new to me but the washing thing as well. I have been quilting for 7 years, never washed anything but flannel and so far (knock on wood ) I have never had a problem with colors running. I always use a color catcher so maybe that's why.
