I too had the good old home ec teacher that taught all the skills needed to make a garment look nice. I appreciate her along with my mother for the skills taught. I agree however, that when the seam is narrow clipping is not always needed. Probably depends on the pattern. Try it both ways and see what works best.

I still clip. I think it's just imprinted in my brain from all the years of sewing clothing.

I clip my inside curves so the pieces will lay flat. I DO NOT clip outside curves tho.

I pink mine too. Less chance of clipping a seam.
