Side and corner setting triangles? I want to start making some quilts set "on point", but I don't know whether to hope I get the math formula right or to just purchase a Side Setting Ruler. They tend to be pretty pricey.

I would sure appreciate some opinions on the matter. :D

Thanks so much!

Neither one. I use this chart, but I'd do the math before I'd buy the ruler. http://www.karencombs.com/setting_triang.htm

I always do the math instead of buying specialty anything. It's that old 'teach a man to fish' principle the way I see it.

Hey! Thanks for the chart! It's now in my "favorites"!

I took a class from Kaye England and of course she sells her own rulers for triangles...
She told us you can either do the math or buy the tool and either way it will work. As for Kaye the rulers don't have to be calculated and if you have to drag out a book or check the internet every time you need to do those triangles having a ruler sure makes quick work of the job! LOL
As for me, I do both depending if I am at home with my rulers or in a group situation like a class

I use the lynn Graves setting triangle because I can cut a strip and then cut the triangles without having to cut a big square.

What do you mean when you say "the rulers don't have to be calculated"?

Thanks,
