I keep notes about everything I make, especially assembly short cuts I used or diagrams of more efficient ways to cut fabric than the pattern calls for so there is less waste. I also note on the pattern how many extra WOF strips or half strips the pattern called for that were not used. I keep all the patterns I have made in one file drawer and those I want to try in another so I can sort thru them easier.

I always think I’ll be “coming right back,” and months later, it’s “what on earth was I doing here?”
I have yet to improve on that, but I *have* learned to take pictures of finished layouts after reading about it on this board. So there’s hope. :) hugs, charlotte |
All the time. Especially when I see or hear a new recipe.

When I make a quilt it is often one that I have seen and so I need to draw it onto graph paper with notes. That way I don't get lost in the middle of it. If I use a pattern, I photo copy it and write notes on it - that way if I make a mistake I can re-do my notes. Then I have a Composition Book. (the kind they make journal covers) that I glue those items into it with the note of who I made it for. Not a lot of detail, because it's just a memory book for me not something to show anyone else.

Copycat, I do enjoy each creative challenge. It was fun making these three quilts because they aren’t like anything i would choose to make for myself.

I have a quilt made some time ago that I really like and I do not recall the pattern I used. It's driving me crazy. I have photographed every quilt that I have made and I have each in a separate folder on my computer. I was thinking about this in the middle of the night and I decided that I need to add a text document to each folder stating any and all information that I have about each quilt and if I have the PDF version of the pattern, I should include that as well. This 'not remembering' is only going to get worse as time goes on!
