I have several gray batiks right now. I ordered half yards to try out the colors for a quilt before ordering the full amount. I had a few grays left over from the rocks I used on the "Bless the Children" stained glass wall banner for a church.

I haven't read everyones comments, but many have commented on their surprise when the grey looks blueish or brownish. I just took a 3 day course on fabric dying and we tried to mix grey. Not as easy as you would think using primary colors. There are 3 or 4 different black dyes which are available, some have a blue cast, some a green cast and some red. As you dilute them to make grey, the underlining colors are more predominant. So analyze all grays, are they warm or cool?

I don't have many greys, but I hope more fabrics are coming out in them. I much prefer grey to brown!

I have gray to go with Philadelphia Eagles fabric.

I have a little bit of grey fabric that I used in the borders and sashing of my Slipknot quilt.

I have only one small piece of grey. I think I bought it when I was making a wall hanging and a squirrel was part of the applique.

I have a bunch of plain greys that a friend gave me for boy's quilts. I use them occasionally. I like grey with almost all colors. I was just running through my mind, grey and red, OK, grey and blue, yes, I'd like that, grey and yellow, oh, yes, that seems very sophisticated....
