If so, please share with this newbie! Thanks!

Aurifil is my favorite.
I also like Mettler and have used a lot of Connecting Threads' Essential Thread.

Depends on the application. I like Connecting Threads threads, and I like Star variegated (which is from Coats and Clarks) Other than that, I like Guterman, Madeira, the Egyptian and whatever else is on sale. Once I bought some online and it sounded too good to be true. It was.

I saw that at Joann's and it is beautiful!

A lot depends on the machine too. Some machines are persnickety.

I really like Mettler thread but can be expensive - also the 100% cotton Coats and Clark - but it can be linty - my longarm I use Signature or Coats and Clark 100% cotton.

Aw, I hadn't thought of that! Thank for the tip.

I like the thread from connecting threads.

Aurifil.

I have not met a Superior Thread I did not like. Their metalic is the only metalic I will use. Just finished a small piece with their "glitter" thread, it really pops the quilting, and sparkles like nothing else.

My Pfaff's seem to do well with Gutterman's, so I ususually stick with it. I piece with Gutterman's cone Polyester thread most of the time.

connecting threads good buy and works great in my quilting machine

Prism99 03-16-2011 06:34 PM

I like Aurifil best so far. Used to use Mettler silk finish, but I find the Aurifil is much less linty.

I use Aurafil, Precensia and Mettler the most. I have some King Tut and Marathon that I save for special quilting.

EasyPeezy 03-16-2011 06:40 PM

Connecting Threads.

Connecting Threads! Can't beat the price!

Blue Bell 03-16-2011 06:55 PM

Aurifil

patchsamkim 03-16-2011 06:56 PM

The thread I have used the most is Mettler. I do like Aurifil also, especially in my bobbin as it holds a lot, and do not need to change the bobbin quite so often. Another thread I have used quite a bit is Signature, and also like that thread. A lot of the others mentioned, I haven't tried, so like getting the input on others likes/dislikes.

I love Connecting Threads thread. That's about all I use now.

I have 4 machines, each with their own preferences but fortunately I have now found that they all like the thread that I get from http://www.threadart.com/shop/category.aspx?catid=2 and I still find it a lot cheaper even with the postage to me in the UK

mltquilt 03-17-2011 03:34 PM

I like the Mettler silk finish and my machine seems to like it, but like everything else it is getting higher so may switch to Gutterman since the local JoAnn's carries it and has it on sale sometimes.

I use Mettler and Connecting Threads. Always cotton when I'm sewing with cotton. Experiment with different brands and you'll find a preference.

Aurifil and then Marathon thread for machine quilting
