This is my favorite: A block with two snowball corners. The extra trimmed off corner triangles sewn together to make a flying geese and pieced into the corner. Makes a great match game! You can make your blocks as large or small as you like. Good project for a beginner as well. Those diagonal triangle snow ball corners are very forgiving!

This was mine composed of nine patches Can be made smaller for a baby |
I appreciate all the great ideas, photos and links being posted for I-spy quilts. This board has wonderful, talented and most of all kind and sharing quilters. Please keep those ideas coming. I love seeing what everyone has enjoyed making.
I love Boston 1954's post with the photo of the child sleeping under the quilt. :) |

FabQUilter. Yours was the one I was going to suggest. That is my favorite I Spy quilt. I have it bookmarked to make sometime. I have plenty of fabrics collected. I just need time to do it. I was hoping to make one for my granddaughter and grandson for their birthdays. I have 10 months to do it. I am sure other things will get in the way and I will be rushing to finish it at the last minute.

It is fun to make an I spy quilt! I made one and sent along a list for the recipient to find the duplicates, the singles,, etc.

My I-spy quilt is a lot like the quilt you've mentioned...and even though my sweet granddaughter is only 2, she loves finding things on her quilt. Have fun with your quilt...and I agree...this board is the best!!!

I made this some time ago. The pattern is from quilter's cache and is super easy. I think it is called shooting star. Another one- https://www.quiltingboard.com/pictur...n-t160428.html https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...ent-173949.jpe Thanks for the quilter's cache link to the Shooting Star pattern. So far, this pattern seems to be perfect for what I already have on hand to simplify making the quilt.:) 5" charms squares and 2.5" white corner squares cut and ready to go...although, I am tempted to audition dot fabric for my corner squares as you used in your quilt. |
I think from all the I spy quilts I have made people like that one the most. I posted it on pintrest and it gets pinned frequently. I did not have plain fabric but only had this polka dot fabric but in the long run I think it added so much to the quilt. Years ago I stumbled on the shooting star pattern from Quilter's Cache but made the body from leftover muslin and the points from leftover scraps. I like the idea of stars as in the more traditional I spy quilts but it is a lot of work. This whips up real fast and is super easy to make but still gives the feel of the original I Spy stars with hexagons and triangles..
