I recently purchased a cabinet from uniquesewingfurniture.com. I was looking at Koala but didn't like the fact that they were nothing more than press board. I went with unique because it is solid wood and he will totally customize it to what you want. I got the added leaf extension on the back and on the right side. I then got a smaller 3 drawer storage unit with a fold down side leaf and a chair. Yes, I figure I paid about $1000 more than the comparable Koala but it will last a lot longer, it was totally customized for me and delivery and set up were free. (And they are out of Wyoming and I am in Washington). Don't let the prices on the web page scare you away. You really need to call and negotiate pricing. If I would have just seen the pricing on the web page before I ever saw them at a trades fair, I would have ran away for those prices! I didn't add the lift for the machine. There is plenty of cutting room without having to lower the machine. The only other thing I had to purchase was the acrylic insert to sit around the machine to make it flush with the cabinet. You also have the ability to add a leaf to the sides or back later down the road because it is customizable.

WISH I could afford one. I am still using my Singer desk that I got when I graduated from High school 42 year ago !!

I have the Koala and it has lasted and still looks brand new ! Just love all the drawers and other features it has

I purchased a Sewmate IV a few years ago at the Houston quilt festival. I had looked at all of the vendors and when I saw this one, I was sold. I also got the Outback extension, shelves for the doors and an empty Madiera matching chest that fits in the opening over the drawers ( I use it for sewing machine feet, needles, scissors, etc.). I'm glad i spent money on the extras. I absolutely love it.
I sew in the dining room and the cabinet allows me to close it up if we have a need. I pull the machine away from the wall when I want to raise the outback and quilt a large quilt. The only negative is the weight. It is on casters but a bit difficult to pull away from the wall on carpet. The quality is excellent. |
After looking at the Koala I realized it might be a bit more than my budget. Has anyone got the Kangaroo Aussie? I am looking at it online...no purchase yet. Thank you

I have a Koala cabinet and I really like it. I have the one that holds 2 machines and has the automatic lift system.

I have the extra height on my Koala cabinets, and the chairs I got raise to the appropriate height. Call Koala and talk to them about your chair! If something is wrong with it, they will fix it.
