do you have machine quilting frame, which one?
 

I am looking for a quilt frame to use with my regular sewing machine. Does anyone have one, and if so which one? What is the best option? (Low cost)

i have a gracie frame (metal) with the 1600p janome machine on it.
it sews beautiful if kept clean and oil. i use superior thread #50 on it.

oh i forgot the machine and the frame with the stitch regulator came to 3500. dollars.
that was 4 years ago.

I have the Bernina quilt frame. I use it with my regular sewing machine. The quilting area is very small - approx. 4" to 5" wide because the take up rail gets wider as you roll the quilt on to it. It runs around $1800 - I think. Please, before you buy a quilt frame, make up your mind if you will ever have the $$ to buy a long arm quilting machine because they are all made differently and will not fit all frames. Gammill is proprietary and only fits on their frame. BabyLoc comes as a package deal - machine and frame. Some long arms will fit the Bernina frame - some will not. So I am having a problem finding a long arm for my frame unless I buy a Bernina 800 series machine - which is sooooo expensive!!!!
Check out the Grace Company for frames. They make the Bernina frame. They also have wooden frames and many sizes and come in all different prices. Also, if you are handy or have a handy spouse, there are plans online to make your own frame. Do a google search for long arm quilting frames and you will see lots of options. Good luck.

I have the wooden Grace II frame with a Quilters Pro Choice machine and the sure stitch regulator. The quilting area is approx 4" to 5" but I really like it. For the money spent it has been just what I needed. It takes up quite a bit of space but the larger the system the more space needed.

As more systems arrive on the scene I am seeing more used systems for sale. Keep us posted on your choice.

I have an Imperial metal frame with a Baby Lock Jane that is only a 9 in throat. It cost me 2300 with the stitch regulator which was 500 alone.
Wish I had a bigger machine but cannot afford them. My frame has a shelf underneath which is nice to have.
The biggest problem with my frame is the rod that runs thru the opening on my machine is too big, I know they make narrower ones so watch for that.

I have an original Grace Machine Frame which is wooden and will only hold a 9" throat machine. It was given to me. I was told by someone several years ago that the best made frame at the time was the Hinterberg Stretch. When I was looking at frames I also liked the looks of the Super Pro Flex. I agree with Alleyoop1, make sure your frame will fit a larger machine if you think you might upgrade later. I can't complain because the frame was free, but since I need to buy a machine to fit on it I would have liked the option of getting a larger throat machine. Good luck on your search.
