" love your neighbor as yourself" If one does not love or respect oneself - what chance does the neighbor have? I think many older women have been taught that loving oneself is a bad thing. i am not talking about " sellfishness " - but too much selflessness can be, imo, self- destructive. Add this one for many women .... for too many of us, the concept that there is no I in TEAM has gone too deep. Instead we need to remember that ... "You need to take care of yourself first .... otherwise you can't take care of others!" @copycat ... Now go and get that quilt out and hug it to smithereens!!!!!!! :) |

Here are photos of the Take 5 Quilt pattern with the bee fabric. One is before binding and the other is completed with binding.
I quilted bee hives and flowers. At one point, I added the yo-yos for fun! PS. I did give it a hug !! |

Our guild had a workshop on making the Take 5 Quilt pattern. Choose 5 fabrics and make a quilt in 5 hours. I accomplished my goal and then decided to quilt it with quilting designs from a book I had on dot to dot quilting. ( I don't know the name of the book any longer.) I loved how the quilt turned out. I wanted to save it for someone special one day but because it has a bee print as part of the blocks, it limits me to who would want a quilt with bees? I was new to quilting when I chose the fabrics. One day it will find a home. It has good memories for me as I had fun making and quilting it. :) |
In 2017 I made a quilt that is either first or second on my best ever list...it is folded up the quilt cabinet...doing nothing, giving enjoyment to no one but myself. Used the Sweetly Scalloped pattern by Carried Away in tones of pinks, purples, greens and white. Measures 60"x71" and is so perfect for a little girl It had been professionally quilted and I had stitched the binding to the back of it. I've decided that I want it to be appreciated by a sweet child and so I'm going to donate it this week to Project Linus. I've taken off the label that said I made it and the date and have replaced it with one of the "You are Loved" labels that are put on the back of my donation quilts. Maybe it will be a Christmas Present to a deserving child.

Of course that means I'll need to make one for the guest room bed also. Right now the king size quilt from our bed is on the full size guest bedroom bed. If anyone needs to know, a king size quilt made in the size to cover the mattress (old style with no topper) and box springs, can be used as a bedspread size quilt on a full bed. I was so surprised! |
